Inspired by their shared Irish ancestry, Mary and Eric created a beautiful winter wonderland wedding at Villa Siena with touches of plaid, bagpipes and even kilts!
A few years ago, both Mary and Eric were out at the same local spot when they locked eyes from across the room and smiled at each other. While both weren’t initially looking for anything serious, they ended up talking the whole night and were inseparable from that moment on! The pair fell in love fast and hard, and they immediately knew it was meant to be.
Fast forward a couple years, and Eric knew he wanted to propose and to make it extra special. Mary was planning a surprise going away party for her best friend, and Eric thought this was the time since everyone they love would be there. The whole group was in on it except Mary of course! A party bus pulled up to their house, and Mary thought this was just a nice added surprise Eric did for her friend’s party. As they arrived at a swanky Scottsdale bar, champagne was passes around, and Mary was instructed to sit down. Right there, surrounded by all their friends, Eric dropped to one knee and popped the question with a ring made from Mary’s grandmother’s sapphire.
The couple planned a winter wonderland wedding complete with lit up Christmas trees and centerpieces of white lanterns from The Confetti Studio with sprigs of evergreen with pinecones scattered around all captured by Melissa Ivy Photography. Villa Siena acted as the perfect venue with its ornate architecture, cozy fireplace and trickling water fountain for the wedding. Some of the couple’s favorite moments included their personal vows and Mary walking down the aisle with her sons to the song of bagpipes. One of the best moments of the night was when Mary got to dance with her father, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, to an Irish Lullaby.
The night ended with the couple running through a sparkler tunnel then jumping into their decorated Land Rover and heading to The Boulders Resort & Spa for a mini-moon!
