Flora has a way of inspiring feelings of passion and calm simultaneously. Whether it’s a bouquet of red roses or a tiny succulent on your windowsill, it seems we are able to process and feel emotions more strongly in the presence of flowers. That emotion is exactly what Matthew Wheeler Photography brought out in this simple, relaxed and incredibly passionate Whitfill Nursery engagement session with Jennifer and Cullen.
The pair met nearly 12 years ago through mutual friends, but did not truly spark a connection until 2014, when they reunited and realized they had strong feelings for each other. The couple describes their chemistry as “wildfire” and that is exactly what we see in this beautiful engagement shoot. The deep red of Cullen’s shirt and Jennifer’s hair brings some heat out in the photos, which are perfectly balanced with the cool tones of the greenhouse setting. The expertly hung and placed plants in Whitehill Nursery offered a dynamic landscape for the pair’s shoot, but the couple truly shined thanks to their effortless connection and comfort.
The proposal matches the couple’s relaxed yet passionate vibe. When Cullen and Jennifer booked a small casita for a vacation in northern Arizona, it became a picturesque location for a proposal. As Jennifer took photos of the view from the main room of their cabin, Cullen got on bended knee, so when Jennifer turned around, she was more surprised by the custom ring than the view outside.
The pair are set to tie the knot this fall at Desert Botanical Garden.
