Weddings can take months or even years to plan, but many brides begin planning the day the ring goes on their finger. One such bride is Kelsey, who’s DIY skills and monogram obsession went to good use in planning the couple’s romantic garden wedding at Villa Siena.
Kelsey and Orlando met at their condo complex in 2011. For their four year anniversary, the pair planned a getaway to Sedona. On the second day, the couple embarked on a Pink Jeep tour. At one of the stops, Orlando asked another couple to take a picture for them. Kelsey noticed “Hard to Love,” by Lee Brice was playing. Before Kelsey could decipher why one of their favorite songs was playing in the middle of a Pink Jeep tour, Orlando got down on one knee and proposed!
The couple were set on making their wedding magical and at the same time incredibly personal, and they totally succeeded. The romantic garden wedding was a decadent floral occasion, with flower walls, beautiful blush and white bouquets and decorative rosettes on the wedding cake. The gorgeous Villa Siena was the perfect backdrop to their big day, with sprawling gardens, open courtyards and luxuriously large main ballroom, which was covered in personalized gifts and monogrammed table settings on Kelsey and Orlando’s big day. Kelsey and Orlando celebrated Orlando’s Mexican heritage by entertaining their 145 guests with a mariachi band, and were generous with their party favors, which included care baskets, monogrammed for each guest as well as personalized place cards, sandals for dancing, and sunglasses for the outdoor ceremony.
Kelsey and her wedding planner from Some Like It Classic spent hours planning and DIYing the ceremony, which was captured beautifully by Leslie Ann Photography. However, she could not be prepared for how nervous she was during the reception. Thankfully, Orlando kept her steady as they performed a graceful first dance, and partied long into the night with family and friends. A highlight of the night was the surprise groom’s cake in the shape of a football and designed in the University of Arizona colors. When Orlando cut into it, he was surprised to find the inside was the colors of the rival school, Arizona State University, and Kelsey’s alma mater! They all had a good laugh about it and enjoyed the cake together.
At the end of the reception, the couple made a grand exit through a tunnel of sparklers, and went to the Thirsty Lion to relax and chat with guests. The couple eventually embarked on their honeymoon to Cancun, where they stayed at two all-inclusive resorts and relaxed after their detail-oriented wedding.
