Melisza & Andrew’s Real Arizona Wedding

The PROPOSAL: After meeting on match.com, the couple dated for nearly 18 months before Andrew “popped the question.”
They were having a quite evening lounging around and watching Netflix, when Andrew suddenly hit the pause button. At first he began talking about the show they were watching, then he suddenly became very silent; Melisza looked over at him and with a sweet smile on his face, and he began telling her how very much she meant to him and suddenly out of nowhere, he pulled out a ring and proposed. Melisza was caught totally off-guard and in all the excitement she actually forgot to say “Yes” until Andrew brought it to her attention.
THE PLANNING: The couple’s favorite part about planning their wedding was getting to bring together their individual creativity. Andrew, a full time software engineer and part time improv comedian, and Melisza, a full time vocalist and performer, are both very, very talented and creative so they planned the wedding to reflect that creativity.
THE BIG DAY: The couple were married on the Joanie Flatt Terrace at Mesa Arts Center, which they actually live-streamed over Skype so they could share the day with friends and family that could make it to the wedding. The couple are big “gamers” so Andrew made an “Achievement Unlocked: Getting’ Hitched” sign for the best man to hold up.
Their favorite part of the ceremony was exchanging their vows. Andrew’s vows were planned, typed and rehearsed and Melisza’s were completely off the cuff, and it fit them perfectly. There wasn’t a dry eye on that terrace, including Andrew and Melisza!
They also added a Tree Planting Unity section to the ceremony where they potted a tree together to symbolize the roots of their relationship and the nurturing and growth of one another and their love.
The reception, which was held at Tre Bella in Mesa, was electric and the love in the room was palpable. They wanted everyone to have a lot of fun, so they offered them numerous activities, starting off with an interactive guest book in which each guest got a marker and a drawn page to creative with. They also offered games for guests to play at their tables, just in case dancing wasn’t their thing.
The couple’s first dance was to “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon. Late in the evening the couple got a second dance, when the song “Electric Love” by BØRNS played, the entire crowd circled around the couple and watched them dance.
At the end of the night, the couple made their exit under an arch of sparklers.
