Classic Havana nights are glamorous, sensual and filled with tons of fun. The ability to infuse these qualities into a wedding is difficult, but when done correctly, it creates a lively and vivacious environment for a celebration with loved ones. This was the exact environment for Ericca and Joseph’s Havana Nights wedding captured by StepOnMe Photography. The couple grew up in the same circles; going to elementary school and high school together, and even working together for two years. Even with such close proximity to one another, the couple did not meet until their first date – a blind date – set up by Ericca’s coworker and Joseph’s best friend. During the double date at Main Event, Joseph noticed that Ericca kept leaving to somewhere else and decided to follow her. He was surprised to see her screaming at the Diamondbacks game on television – and nearly swooned. A baseball lover himself, Joseph joined Ericca and the pair stayed at Main Event until the wee hours of the morning.
Joseph brilliantly incorporated their love for the Diamondbacks into his surprise proposal at a family dinner. With the help of Ericca’s sister, Desiree, the Diamondbacks mascot was at the restaurant to hand Joseph the ring. Ericca, just overjoyed to see the mascot, was brought up to the middle of the restaurant and turned around at the moment that the mascot was handing Joseph the ring. Her response was an immediate yes!
The couple had little hand in the planning of their Havana nights wedding and instead Ericca’s sister Desiree was in charge of the entire day. They had a traditional Catholic ceremony, with their childhood priest, family members reading scriptures and singing gospels. Afterwards, the anticipation for the reception only heightened for the couple who were blindfolded until they were at the entrance of the reception hall at Crowne Plaza San Marcos Resort. The hall was transformed into Havana with standout colors of purple, teal and copper. Each table had a centerpiece including custom Cuban cigars for guests to take home. In all the photos shot by StepOnMe Photography and specifically during their first dance to “Die a Happy Man” Ericca and Joseph looked absolutely overjoyed to be celebrating their love together.
