We are simply loving this couple’s destination desert wedding captured by Peyton Rainey Photography and planned by Desert Whim.
Don’t be stubborn when it comes to love: That’s Kaily’s advice. Kaily and her husband Corey met after college, having grown up in small towns close to each other. Although they felt an instant connection when they first met, they both were timid to make the first gesture of turning their friendship into something more. Once they did, it was game over and they couldn’t believe this kind of love was right in front of them this whole time! However, Corey foreshadowed their future by saying to Kaily’s mother that he had just met his future mother-in-law years before the couple got together.
After officially dating for a year, Corey surprised Kaily by planning the perfect proposal. The couple has connections in Arizona, despite living in Minnesota, and so Kaily flew down to spend a weekend with friends and family in Scottsdale. Corey was supposed to be at a bachelor party in Las Vegas, but when Kaily and a friend hiked McDowell Mountain, Corey surprised her at the top, where he proposed (and had his brother fly a drone to capture the whole thing on video).
Their wedding took place in Scottsdale at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran church. Since the couple had grown up traditionally religious, the church ceremony was perfect. Kaily glowed in a bohemian-inspired lace dress paired with a special bracelet which was a piece of her mom’s wedding gown dipped in gold. Their ceremony took place inside, and then the couple and their entourage took photos in the desert, surrounded by cacti and beautiful sunlight. Their outdoor reception was at the Greyhawk Golf Club, where their large 300-guest party celebrated their union with a balloon sendoff, plenty of dancing and a giant slice of cake. The couple spontaneously decided to head to Mexico for their honeymoon, to celebrate their union beachside.
Later the couple snuck off to Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon for breathtaking portraits that truly captured the essence of their destination desert wedding!
