We just adore this classic Gatsby-inspired wedding submitted by Rachel Solomon Photography

From the bride:
Ryan and I met at Arizona State University five years ago when we were both young, eager new college students. We connected immediately and from that point on were pretty inseparable throughout the rest of our college years. During all of the fun, crazy college experiences we grew up and we grew together. Shortly after graduation he proposed!

Not too long after, the venue search began. We knew we wanted to get married the following March as it is one of the most beautiful times in Arizona. That being said, we could not wait too long to look for the right Arizona venue. After touring many resorts and hotels, we found the Scottsdale McDowell Mountain Marriott. We knew it would be the perfect place to host the glamorous and elegant wedding reception we both had been envisioning.

Our champagne gold and black color scheme fit flawlessly with our dream of a classy Gatsby inspired wedding. Working withDaniel Duran Events only made it easier to see our dream become a reality. With our vision in mind, we chose tall, stark black candelabras to be scattered throughout the lengthy king’s tables that were additionally lined with long black boxes filled with white roses and Chinese mums. For the place settings we chose glamorous gold etched chargers, chiavari chairs and shimmering, gold flatware to pair with the black accents we had placed about the ballroom.

Throughout the guest spaces were some of the small DIY projects that were done in the months leading up to the wedding. From the tedious pearl table numbers on golden easels to the candy table décor my mother, matron of honor and I craftily displayed.

From the beginning Ryan and my hope was to create a magical experience for our guests so that the day would be just as exciting and memorable for them as it was for us. When guest first arrived to cocktail hour they were greeted with our welcome drink of Champagne and blackberries. In keeping with that same notion, the idea of a live jazz band seemed to be the perfect fit to entertain our guests as they sipped their drinks on the patio overlooking the golf course. Scott Keo and his 7 piece band played our favorite classics from Frank Sinatra to Bobby Darin. An old fashioned photo booth was available all night for pictures along with a cigar bar outside for the men to enjoy. Although the day flew by way too fast, it was exactly what Ryan and I had wished-for solely because of our astounding vendors, family and friends.
